Role Overview:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will provide product support for a variety of elevator components and mechanical systems. The position will play a crucial role in maintaining product integrity, evaluating opportunities, and integrating new component designs into existing systems, while working to meet agreed upon cost and schedule commitments. Problems and issues faced are general and may require understanding of broader set of issues. Problems may span a range of issues or work areas and are typically solved through exercise of discretion and/or judgment, drawing from prior experiences, with analysis of the issue.
On a Typical Day You Will:
Be responsible for product life cycle maintenance, cost reduction projects, and new product development.
Analyze, design, and modify elevator components, and complete elevator systems.
Work to achieve day-to-day objectives with moderate impact on work area.
Work autonomously with limited supervision on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments.
Set objectives for own area of responsibility to meet the objectives or goals of projects and assignments.
Be responsible for making minor changes or enhancements in systems and processes to solve problems or improve effectiveness of work area.
Communicate with parties within and outside of own team.
Explain policies, practices, and procedures of the work area to others within the organization, influencing decision-makers with recommended courses of action.
Influence others within the work area through explanation of facts, policies, and practices.
Be an established and productive professional contributor with theoretical to advanced knowledge of work area. Assignments may difficult or complex.
Works autonomously with limited supervision.
What You Will Need to be Successful:
Basic Qualifications :
BS Degree in mechanical engineering degree with 5+ years’ experience
MA/MS degree with 3 to 5+ years’ experience
Strong communications and leadership ability
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
Sound mechanical engineering background (mechanical and system modeling and design, component modeling and design)
Interpret schematics, mechanical assembly drawings, and sometimes building plans in order to analyze complex problems and identify root cause issues and develop innovative solutions
Ability to work across engineering disciplines with electrical engineers, software engineers, and test engineers.
Self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills
Collaborate effectively working on cross-functional teams in order to work closely with manufacturing operations, supply management, contract logistics, finance, and field support to ensure designs are compatible with requirements from across the organization
Preferred Skills:
Creo/Pro Engineer
Mechanical structural analysis with Ansys or other FEA Software
Design documentation
Hands-on testing or manufacturing experience preferred but not required
