CNC Programmer- 3rd Shift

Role Overview:

Computer numerically controlled (CNC) programmers design programs for factory machines that turn raw sheet metal material into functional objects. They are responsible for reading and interpreting design blueprints, programming the CNC machine, and adjusting the machine settings until the desired specifications are met. They must perform test runs and make adjustments until the resulting product meets blueprint specifications. They must optimize programs in order to gain capacity on equipment. This position requires the ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, some mechanical aptitude, and strong attention to detail.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting / training of hourly associates and new CNC programmers on the proper processes, techniques, and safety procedures used in the punching, cutting and bending of elevator components.

Candidate must be able to show proficiency in management of TRUMPF and Salvagnini equipment, as well as its corresponding NC software packages.

Must be able to work with Production, Quality, Engineering and Maintenance personnel to drive project implementations and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

On a typical day you will:

  • Analyze operations information and make the appropriate changes to equipment, processes or documentation to solve problems, improve efficiency and part quality.

  • Preparation and development of numerical programs used to drive CNC equipment/machines/robots with minimal supervision.

  • Interpret technical drawings and 3D models

  • Use software to model cutting paths, program machines accordingly and simulate part programs

  • Consider tools required to cut materials and program machines accordingly

  • Works closely with manufacturing, quality and operations in the planning, design, development and utilization of NC programs

  • Ensures sequences in manufacturing processes and product builds are followed and comply with Environmental Health & Safety and Quality requirements.

  • Investigates root cause of process failures or quality issues and develops go-forward approach.

  • Interfaces with fellow manufacturing engineers, structures design engineers, engineering management, operations, shop floor personnel, and external vendors

  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned by supervisor or manager

What You Will Need to be Successful:

Minimum Education: Associate's in manufacturing or technology-related field preferred

Minimum Experience : 3+ years experience as a CNC Programmer, Machine Operator or similar role

Preferred Experience: 5+ yrs of experience on Machining / CNC Experience, Skilled Trade/Technical Certification and or Associated Degree (preferred), Ability to multitask, problem solve, and manage resources along with effective time management and organizational skills, Intermediate knowledge and experience of various operation software
